Loveday: Last Crewelwork Leaf

As you know I usually take photos as I'm working. However, the deadline is looming large and my time is being eaten away by school like I've never experienced before. Teaching a new subject (English) and a higher level music course has been far more demanding than I anticipated! What this means for you, dear reader, is that I stitched and stitched and completely forgot to take any photos of the steps as I went along!IMG_6848This last crewelwork leaf is so pretty, isn't it? I love the mix of colours with the addition of the deep red and the bright orange: perfect colours to be stitching as autumn begins. This leaf varies a bit from the others in that it doesn't have any seeding in the centre and the outline is in green rather than blue. The interior of the leaf has three different components; slanted satin stitch green leaves, satin stitched red and orange berries and pretty lavender flowers worked in chain stitch with one French Knot above each flower.  It's a leaf where an embroiderer can enjoy working many different stitches!IMG_6845I also zipped right through these delicious, fat raspberries, I just love the combination of the deep red and dark purple! As you can see from the photo below, I'm almost finished. The more parts I finish, the more the piece comes alive with colour and texture. It's as if the very tree is bursting with life!IMG_6788
